About Us

History

Our winery has its roots in the 1940s, when José Llamas Ordás began working the family vineyards with a clear vision: to transform the richness of the land into unique wines. The winery, built in 1938, and the warehouse added in 1982, have witnessed generations dedicated to making great wines. In 2023, the winery passed into the hands of our company, keeping Valentín Llamas, grandson of the founder, at the helm. With him, we continue this legacy, taking care of every detail so that the history of our family lives on in every glass.

Vineyards

In Benazolve, the birthplace of the León Designation of Origin, we cultivate 14 hectares of vineyards with native varieties such as Prieto Picudo and Albarín, along with Verdejo, Godello and Tempranillo. Each grape reflects the unique character of our land and the commitment to quality that defines us.

Oenologist

Our winemaker, an expert in local varieties, takes care of every detail of the winemaking process. From the selection of grapes to the creation of the wine, he ensures that each bottle expresses the tradition and authenticity of our region.

  • Scent

The aroma of wine is the first thing you notice when you bring the glass closer to your wine. It can include fruity notes like cherry or citrus, floral notes like jasmine or lavender, and spicy or woody notes in aged wines. These aromas vary depending on the type of grape, the region, and the winemaking process.

  • Flavor

The taste of wine combines sweetness, acidity, tannins and the finish. A wine can be dry or sweet, fresh due to its acidity, or astringent due to the tannins in reds. The finish, which is the taste that remains in the mouth, can be short or long, light or intense, depending on the wine.

  • Body

Body refers to how the wine feels in your mouth. It can be light (fresh and smooth), medium (more balanced), or full (intense and robust). This influences how the wine pairs with different foods.

QUICK ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What grape varieties do you work with and what are their characteristics?

We work primarily with Prieto Picudo and Albarín, both native varieties of the León Denomination of Origin. Prieto Picudo stands out for its balanced tannins and notes of red fruits, while Albarín brings freshness and floral aromas. We also grow Verdejo, Godello and Tempranillo, each with its own unique character.

How to store wine to preserve its quality?

Wine should be stored in a cool, dark place, with a constant temperature of between 12 and 18°C. Bottles should be placed horizontally to keep the cork moist, and vibrations or sudden changes in temperature should be avoided to preserve its quality.
